For me, it is first and foremost good communication. How do I verbalize my ideas and visions so that a team of very different artists can collaborate with me?
How do I lead a team of people who work in an artistic process and have different needs?
My job is to create a safe space in which others can be creative and can feel free to commit to the process without ego.
I think that a strong understanding of social dynamics and empathy is essential for working with diverse perspectives.
I am a theatre maker, director, lecturer and sometimes a performer myself. I studied theater and film directing at the Athanor Academy of Performing Arts from 2009 to 2013. My works predominantly address questions of identity, perceived social taboos, and origins. My own identity, born as a Black woman in East Germany and mother of a daughter, is strongly interwoven with my projects, which are always told from an intersectional perspective.
